Apple Without Steve Jobs Will Do Just Fine: 10 Reasons Why

When Apple CEO Steve Jobs announced that he would be taking a medical leave of absence Jan. 17, the news rippled through the high-tech community like a tsunami, prompting panicked questions. Financial analysts managed to ameliorate some of the hysteria by noting that they expected Apple not only to report a fine first fiscal quarter for the year, but also that the company's existing products and forthcoming upgrades would keep the company well positioned well into the future. Well, Apple reported record earnings for the holiday quarter, ending Dec. 25. It's also important to note that Apple has been down this road twice before with Jobs. Jobs took time off to battle pancreatic cancer in 2004. More recently, in April 2009, Jobs underwent a liver transplant. Both times, Apple COO Tim Cook has been there to guide Apple's ship through waters calm and roiled. Since Jobs' full-time return, the company has launched new iPhones, Macbooks, iPods and the seminal iPad last April. With upgrades planned for all of these products in the next year, Apple appears well positioned for growth& with or without Jobs. Jobs' vision isn't replaceable; no one is questioning that.
