New BlackBerry AppWorld Lets Users Buy Apps from PC and Sync to Smartphone
BlackBerry AppWorld application catalog for BlackBerry smartphones lets users shop for and purchase mobile apps from a PC Web browser. Windows users browsing from Internet Explorer, Chrome or Firefox can search the online app catalog and see whether their each app works on their specific device. Using the required Web browser plug-in, I could then purchase and download apps, then sync them to the BlackBerry& as long as the device is connected via USB. Apps may not be purchased from the PC then pushed to the device over the air, and I couldn't even complete the sale from the PC without the device attached to the PC. At least Apple doesn't require the device to be present to purchase an app. The new MyWorld page does let users see what apps have been purchased (or obtained free), whether they need an upgrade and whether they are installed on the connected BlackBerry smartphone.
